About The Congress – 11th Congress of Polish Student Societies in the UK

About The Congress

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES

Congress of Polish Student Societies in the UK is an annual conference organised since 2008. The initiative is supported by Zbigniew Pelczynski, Professor Emeritus of Political Philosophy at the University of Oxford, who initiated the conference.

The objective of the Congress is integration, exchange of experiences, shaping of the future leaders, and promotion of Polish culture abroad.

The Congress regularly collaborates with the Federation of Polish Student Societies in the UK with which over 30 Polish Student Societies are affiliated. The patrons of the previous editions include the President of the Republic of Poland, European Commission, and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Congress has been organised at prestigious universities such as: Oxford, Warwick, Edinburgh and Cambridge, and since its conception it has hosted over 2000 delegates. Participants are students of various disciplines. The most strongly represented fields are economics, law, finance, and natural sciences.

The speakers have background in the academia, politics, and business. During the previous editions the participants were addressed by, among the others, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Radosław Sikorski, Danuta Hubner, Adam Zamoyski, Tadeusz Różewicz, Lech Majewski, Maciej Stuhr, Steffen Möller, and Marcin Przybyłowicz.

11TH CONGRESS

11th Congress of Polish Student Societies in the UK will take place on 9th-11th February 2018 at University of Warwick and is organised by the University of Warwick Polish Society. The society consists of more than 100 members and has a very pro-active community. Previously, Polish Society at University of Warwick organised a 6th Congress in 2013.

This edition of Congress will focus on the topic – “Changes in the surrounding world – an opportunity or a threat” which will be discussed on four panels. Each panel will focus on culture, business, politics or economy. Each panel has its own theme, which is important to young and active Poles who would like to work, study or live in Poland or CEE region in the future.

We expect that at least 200 students will participate in the 11th edition of the Congress.

On the occasion of the Congress, a ball will be organised to which sponsors and partners will be invited to attend. The event will have a networking and social nature; during the ball participants will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with a recruitment offers of the firms present at the Congress.
